Frequently Asked Questions
TTL (Time To Live) is how long, in seconds, a DNS resolver is allowed to cache a record before checking again for updates. A lower TTL means changes propagate faster but increases DNS query volume.
For stable records, 3600-86400 seconds (1-24 hours) is common. Before making a DNS change, temporarily lowering TTL to around 300 seconds helps the change propagate faster.
Each DNS record type can have its own independently configured TTL - it's normal for your MX records to have a different TTL than your A records.
