Image Compressor

Reduce the file size of JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos to a target such as 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB, or by quality. Several images at once, all in your browser.

Add your photos, choose a maximum size in KB or a quality level, and download the smaller files.

Drag & drop images here, or click to choose

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and more. Compressed in your browser - nothing is uploaded.

For the smallest files, reduce the pixel size too - a 4000 px photo is far bigger than any form or website needs.

Compress Photos to an Exact Size

Online forms, job portals and exam registrations often accept photos only below a limit such as 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB, while a phone photo is usually 2-5 MB. This tool shrinks images in your browser until they fit the size you set, or to the quality you choose. Your photos are never uploaded.

How to Use It

  1. Drop one or more images on the box. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF and BMP all work.
  2. Choose Target file size and enter the limit in KB (or tap 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500), or choose Quality and use the slider.
  3. Pick JPG or WebP, and optionally a smaller Largest side.
  4. Click Compress Images. One image downloads straight away; for several, download each one or all of them as a ZIP.

How the Target Size Works

The tool first lowers the JPG or WebP quality step by step to find the best quality that fits. If even low quality is too big, it reduces the pixel size a little at a time until the file fits. Each result shows the old and new size, the percentage saved and the final dimensions, so you can see exactly what changed.

Tips for Forms

Limitations

Compression removes detail, so very small targets make photos look soft or blocky - zoom in before you upload. Transparent PNGs become JPGs with a white background; choose WebP to keep transparency. Animated GIFs keep only their first frame. Some portals also set a minimum size; if your file comes out too small, raise the target or the quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choose "Target file size", enter 20 or 50 (or tap the button), and click Compress Images. The tool lowers the quality and, if needed, the pixel size until the photo fits.

No. The images are compressed by your browser on your device and saved straight to your downloads. Nothing is sent to Byteary.

Very small targets remove a lot of detail. Try a slightly larger limit, or reduce the pixel size first with "Largest side", which often keeps the photo sharper at the same file size.

Yes. Drop several images together; each one is compressed with the same settings, and you can download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
