Reverse Text

Reverse text backwards, reverse word or line order, reverse each word, or flip text upside down - emoji stay intact.

Paste text and choose what to reverse - characters, words, letters in each word or lines.

Upside-down text uses look-alike Unicode symbols, so some letters only approximate the real shape.

What Is the Reverse Text Tool?

It writes text backwards and can also reverse the order of words or lines, reverse the letters inside each word, or turn text upside down with look-alike Unicode characters. Emoji and accented letters stay whole instead of breaking into pieces.

What People Use It For

  • Puzzles, riddles and hidden messages in quizzes and escape rooms.
  • Upside-down text for social media names and posts.
  • Reversing the order of a list, such as a timeline, from newest-first to oldest-first.
  • Checking palindromes - words that read the same both ways.

How to Use It

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Choose what to reverse: characters, word order, letters in each word, line order, upside down or mirror.
  3. Copy the result.

Example

In upside-down mode, Hello World! 👋 becomes 👋 ¡plɹoM ollǝH. The text is reversed and each letter is swapped for a character that looks like it turned over - e becomes ǝ, r becomes ɹ and the exclamation mark becomes an inverted one. With Word order, the same text becomes 👋 World! Hello.

Why Emoji Do Not Break

Many emoji and letters with accents are stored as two or more Unicode code points. Simple reversers flip those code points and produce broken symbols. This tool reverses whole visible characters (grapheme clusters), so a family emoji or a Hindi conjunct stays intact.

Limitations

Upside-down text is made from different Unicode characters that only look flipped, so a few letters are approximations and the result is not searchable as the original words. Only Latin letters, digits and common punctuation have upside-down versions. For other styles, try the Fancy Text Generator; to reverse the order of a sorted list, use Sort Lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Paste your text and choose "All characters". Every line is written from the last character to the first, and the order of the lines is reversed too.

No. The tool reverses whole visible characters, so emoji, flags and letters with accents keep their shape instead of turning into broken symbols.

Yes. Upside-down text is made of ordinary Unicode characters, so you can paste it into most apps. Very old devices may show a few characters as boxes.

"Word order" keeps each word intact but reverses their order. "Letters in each word" keeps the words in place but spells each one backwards.
