What Is the Duplicate Sentence Finder?

It finds sentences that appear more than once in a text, shows how many times each one is repeated, highlights them in context and gives you a copy of the text with the repeats removed. It is handy for long documents assembled from several drafts, where the same sentence often sneaks in twice.

When to Use It

  • Editing long articles, reports and theses before submitting them.
  • Cleaning product descriptions built from templates.
  • Checking text you merged from several sources.

How to Use It

  1. Paste your text. Results update as you type.
  2. Leave Ignore case, punctuation and extra spaces ticked to catch near-identical sentences that end with a different mark.
  3. Review the list and the highlighted text, then copy the version without repeats.

Example

A blender description of seven sentences repeats Our blender has a 1000 W motor. and The jar is dishwasher safe. - the second time with an exclamation mark. The finder reports 2 sentences repeated, numbers both copies of each in the highlighted text, and the cleaned text keeps only the first copy of each.

Short Sentences

Sentences under four words, such as "Why choose it?" or "Thank you.", are often repeated on purpose, so they are skipped unless you tick Include short sentences.

Limitations

Sentences are split at full stops, question marks and exclamation marks using your browser's language rules, so abbreviations such as "e.g." can occasionally split a sentence early. Only exact repeats are found; reworded sentences are not. To compare two separate texts, use the Text Similarity Checker; to remove repeated lines from a list, use Remove Duplicate Lines.
