View all 12For anything truly private, use a solid black bar - strong pixelation is safe for faces, but a light blur on large text can sometimes still be read.
Hide Private Details Before You Share
Screenshots and photos often show more than you intend: a phone number in a chat, an Aadhaar or card number, a home address, a child's face, a car number plate. This tool hides chosen areas by pixelating, blurring or covering them with a black bar - in your browser, so the original never leaves your device.
How to Use It
- Choose an image.
- Pick Pixelate, Blur or Solid black bar, and the strength.
- Drag over each area to hide. Use Undo Last Area to remove a mistake.
- Or tick Apply to the whole image for a blurred background or preview.
- Click Download Image.
Which Effect Is Safe?
- Solid black bar is the only effect that removes the information completely. Use it for numbers, passwords and anything truly private.
- Pixelate at medium or high strength is fine for faces and small text.
- Blur looks softer, but a light blur on large, clear text can sometimes still be read - turn the strength up.
Limitations
Only the areas you mark are hidden, so check the whole picture, including reflections and small print. The saved file is a new image without the original's hidden details, but if you have already shared the original, it cannot be taken back. Photos can also carry location data; the downloaded copy does not include it, which you can confirm with the Image Metadata Viewer.
