Open iPhone Photos Anywhere

iPhones save photos as HEIC to save space, but many Windows PCs, websites and government portals still do not accept HEIC. This tool converts HEIC photos to JPG or PNG in your browser, so your personal photos are never uploaded to a conversion server.

How to Use It

  1. Copy the HEIC photos to your computer, or open this page on your phone.
  2. Drop the photos on the box or click to choose them.
  3. Choose JPG (smaller) or PNG, the JPG quality, and whether to shrink the photos for sharing or email.
  4. Click Convert Photos. Several photos come in one ZIP file.

Stop Getting HEIC Files

  • On the iPhone: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible makes the camera save JPG from now on.
  • When copying to a PC: Settings → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC → Automatic converts photos as they are copied.
  • Photos shared from the iPhone by email or many apps are often converted to JPG automatically.

Limitations

HEIC decoding is demanding, so the first photo takes a few seconds while the decoder (about 1.3 MB) loads, and large batches take longer on older phones. Live Photos and bursts convert as a single still image. Some browsers, such as Safari, open HEIC directly and convert faster. For other formats, use the Image Converter; to make the photos smaller, use the Image Compressor.
