Passport Photos at Home, the Right Size
This tool turns a photo you took against a plain wall into a correctly sized passport or visa photo, and lays out several copies on a 4 × 6 inch photo print or an A4 sheet. Everything happens in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.
How to Use It
- Take a front-facing photo in good light, against a plain white or light wall, with your shoulders visible.
- Choose it, then pick the size: 35 × 45 mm (most Indian forms, UK, EU and Schengen, Australia), 2 × 2 inch (USA, Indian visa and OCI), 50 × 70 mm (Canada), 33 × 48 mm (China) or a custom size.
- Drag the photo and use Zoom so your face fills the dashed oval and the top of your head is near the top guide.
- Click Download Print Sheet for printing, or Download Single Photo for online applications.
Printing It Correctly
The sheet is made at 300 DPI. When you print, choose 100% or Actual size, not "Fit to page", or every photo will come out slightly too big or small. A 4 × 6 inch print from a photo shop or kiosk is cheap and gives eight 35 × 45 mm photos; an A4 sheet holds about thirty. The light cutting border helps you trim them neatly.
For Online Applications
Online forms usually want a single photo with a pixel size and a KB limit. Download the single photo, then bring it under the limit with the Image Compressor if needed. Your signature can be prepared the same way with the Signature Resizer.
Limitations
The tool does not remove or replace the background; it only fills any empty space with the colour you choose, so start with a photo taken against a plain light wall. It cannot check official rules such as head size, expression, glasses or how recent the photo is. Rules differ by country and change over time - always check the current requirements of the office you are applying to.
