Split PDF

Split a PDF into separate files: pull out chosen pages, split by page ranges, split every page, or cut it into equal chunks.

Choose a PDF, pick how to split it and download the parts - several files come as one ZIP.

Drag & drop a PDF here, or click to choose

The file is split in your browser and never uploaded.

Use commas between pages and ranges. "8-" means page 8 to the end.

Splitting copies pages without re-compressing them, so the quality stays exactly the same as the original.

Four Ways to Split a PDF

Splitting takes pages out of one PDF and saves them as new files. This tool offers four modes:

  • Extract chosen pages - type pages such as 1-3, 7 and get them in one new PDF.
  • Each range becomes its own PDF - 1-4, 5-9, 10- gives three files.
  • Every page - one PDF per page.
  • Every N pages - cut a long file into equal parts, for example 10 pages each.

How to Use It

  1. Choose a PDF. The page count appears under the box.
  2. Pick a mode and enter the pages or the number of pages per file. 8- means page 8 to the end.
  3. Click Split PDF. One result downloads as a PDF; several come together in a ZIP file.

Why the Quality Does Not Change

The pages are copied, not re-drawn or re-compressed, so text stays selectable and images stay as sharp as they were. The new files are usually smaller than the original simply because they contain fewer pages, but shared fonts and images may be stored in each part.

Limitations

Bookmarks and links that point to pages left out of a part stop working. Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first. To throw away a few pages and keep the rest in one file, Delete PDF Pages is quicker; to join parts back together use Merge PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choose "Extract chosen pages into one PDF" and type the page number, for example 4. Type 4, 9 or 2-5 to extract several pages into the same file.

When a split produces more than one PDF, the parts are bundled into one ZIP so your browser downloads a single file. Open it to find each part.

A range with no end means "to the last page", so 8- is page 8 through the end of the document.

No. Pages are copied without re-compression, so each part looks exactly like the original pages.
