Add Page Numbers to PDF

Stamp page numbers on a PDF with your choice of position, format (1, Page 1, 1 of 10), starting number and font size.

Choose a PDF, set where and how the numbers appear and download the numbered file.

Drag & drop a PDF here, or click to choose

Numbers are added in your browser - the file is never uploaded.

For example, 1 to leave the cover unnumbered.

Skip the cover page by starting from page 2 - the count can still begin at 1.

Number Every Page in Seconds

Reports, theses, contracts and court bundles usually need page numbers. This tool stamps them onto the pages of an existing PDF in the style and position you choose.

How to Use It

  1. Choose a PDF.
  2. Pick a format - 1, Page 1, Page 1 of 10, 1 / 10 or - 1 - - and a position such as bottom centre or top right.
  3. Set the font size, the first number and how many pages at the start to skip.
  4. Click Add Page Numbers.

Common Set-ups

  • Skip the cover: skip 1 page and start at 1, so the second page shows "1".
  • Continue from another file: set the first number to where the previous part ended.
  • Formal documents: "Page 1 of 10" at the bottom right makes missing pages easy to spot.

Limitations

Numbers are drawn on top of the page, so if a page already has content in that corner they may overlap - try another position. The "of 10" total counts only the numbered pages. Numbers use a standard PDF font and cannot be edited later except with a full PDF editor. To add a label such as DRAFT instead, use Watermark PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions
